Staff Favorite: Nuvo Crystal Drops

Mar 14th

   Welcome back, friends!

Every once in awhile, a new product becomes a favorite of just about everyone who tries it.

Case in point: Nuvo Crystal Drops by Tonic Studios!

This product could be described as a thick liquid “paint” which comes in a squeeze bottle applicator. It is used to add dimensional details such as dots or lines to your craft projects.

We carry three lines of Nuvo Drops: Nuvo Jewel Drops which look like tiny gems:

Nuvo Glitter Drops which have the perfect amount of sparkle:

And my personal favorite, Nuvo Crystal Drops which are opaque and dry with a shine like enamel:

If you come to one of our classes at Memory Bound, you’ll often see Nuvo Drops on the list of supplies to bring! We use Nuvo Drops on just about everything…cards, layouts, mini books, mixed media projects, and home decor pieces.

I have been using Nuvo Drops for quite some time now and love this product! The 1 oz bottle is larger than other products you may have tried (Liquid Pearls or Stickles) and has a great price point at just $2.99. You have a lot of control when you squeeze the bottle, allowing you to easily make dots of different sizes for your projects as you can see here:

Nuvo dots are very smooth on the top (you don’t get little “points” on your dots), creating the look of an enamel dot. Because you can make different sizes so easily, this opens up all kinds of creative possibilities!  TIP: Nuvo Drops will need 2+ hours to dry completely.

Here’s another fun idea: Squeeze your Nuvo Drops onto your craft mat and let the dots dry completely. Scrape them off with a spatula and now you’ve made your own enamel dots! Glue them to your project with a dot of liquid glue. Here they are drying:

Here they are after I scraped them off my craft mat, ready to adhere to a project! I keep a small bowl of these little treasures on my craft table. 🙂

On this layout, I punched small red dots to add berries to the greenery, colored them with my clear Wink of Stella brush to add some sparkle, then added a dot of clear Nuvo Drops (Morning Dew) over the top of each one. This creates a clear domed effect which I love.

Here are some other examples of Nuvo Drops in action.

Stop by and let us show you in person how fun it is to use Nuvo Crystal Drops! When you see all the beautiful colors, you can start — or add to! — your collection!

Happy creating!
