Meet Diane!

Jun 8th

Hello, Memory Bound Friends!

At Memory Bound we believe we have the most talented, creative, and fun staff and we thought it would be fun for you all to get to know our little MB family a bit better! So each week we are going to introduce you to one of our staff members! We hope you enjoy!

This week we are featuring Diane, the manager of the store. All of us are incredibly grateful to Diane for keeping the store, as well as the staff, focused, organized and running like a fine tuned Vagabond Die Cutting Machine! 🙂

Diane has created wonderful vintage mixed media projects. One of her most popular projects was the canvas she created using recipes in her mom’s handwriting while adding some vintage utensils.

Diane creativity flourishes during the holiday season! Here you can see a canvas she created with favorite Christmas recipes and added vintage cookie cutters for a one of a kind creation.

Here, Diane brought a piece of fabric to life with Distress Pens, Tim Holtz embellishments and pieces of twine and other seasonal items.

Diane is an avid gardener and creates work of arts with pictures of her flowers! Check out this album she created to document last year’s garden.

Here’s more from Diane!

I was born and raised on a farm in Andover, Iowa. I have now lived in Ankeny for 33 years with my husband Richard. We have three children. Jeffery is married to Rachel and they have little boy Eli. Jill, our oldest daughter, is married to Adam (AKA Butter) and has two fun little boys Gavin and Garrett. My youngest daughter Jana, is married to Matt and they are expecting a baby boy in July.

I love spending time with my family and am blessed to have them in all in the town, which allows me to see all my grandboys anytime! I also enjoy scrapbooking, golfing and gardening is definitely a passion of mine!

I would say my area of expertise is picking out papers and colors to go with your projects! A tool one must have is a 12″ trimmer! Everyone needs a good trimmer! I also love my Distress Inks and blending tool. I ink everything! (Watch out!!) My favorite paper crafting company is anything that has Tim Holtz’s name on it! His products lend themselves to be used in so many different manners and especially in my favorite projects, mixed media!  I believe it is very important to keep a record of your family memories for generations to come in any manner that works for you! (Diane has recorded her mom’s handwriting in those beautiful mixed media recipe canvases!)

If you are coming to Iowa, I recommend checking out Memory Bound. You will love it! Other suggestions are the Iowa State Fair, and the Iowa State Campus in the spring or fall because it is especially beautiful during those times of the year.

I really treasure all the life-long friendships I have made working at Memory Bound. The customers are truly the best. My daughters have also worked at Memory Bound and of course, I get to work with my sister everyday! (Who is Diane’s sister? Dawn of course!)
