Meet Dawn!

Apr 27th

Hello, Memory Bound Friends!

At Memory Bound we believe we have the most talented, creative, and fun staff and we thought it would be fun for you all to get to know our little MB family a bit better! So each week we are going to introduce you to one of our staff members! We hope you enjoy!

This week we are featuring Dawn, one of our two wonderful store owners. All of us are incredibly grateful to both Dawn and Kellie for having the vision to start Memory Bound…and for having the creativity and energy to make it such a fun and happy place for our staff and customers!

Dawn loves to create Mixed Media projects and here are a few of her favorite items that she has in her home.

Dawn added a fun quote to an old window for a fun home decor piece!

This beautiful canvas measures 36×36 and is a real statement piece! Dawn purchased the wreath and made the mixed media canvas behind it using paints, stencils, texture paste, and Distress Inks.

This ladder was dug out of her Mom and Dad’s garage and measures 9′ long.  Dawn loves re-purposing vintage items.

Now here’s a bit more from Dawn!

I have been blessed with four awesome children and my last one will be going to college this fall. This makes me very sad after having children at home for 28 years and running from one activity to the next.  How will I know how to dress or how to talk now that I won’t have a teenager at home anymore?!?!?!   My husband and I will have to get to know each other again!  But I am looking forward to spending more time on my hobbies which include traveling, gardening, cooking, walking my dog, and hanging with friends.

I enjoy all kinds of paper crafting, but I especially love making mixed media projects. My favorite crafting tool is my Big Shot! I love all the dies and embossing folders you can use with it. My favorite paper crafting company is Ranger.  Their products are versatile and can be used by all paper crafters including cardmakers, scrapbookers, and mixed media artists.  They are very good at educating their customers with classes, videos, etc.

If you’re traveling to Iowa, I would recommend a visit to Memory Bound! We have something for everyone and if we don’t, we will try to order it.

I have so many wonderful Memory Bound memories — too many too choose just one, but if I had to choose a favorite memory, it would probably be all the trips Kellie and I have taken together. Those trips hold some of my funniest memories!  Kellie has a gift for seeing the funny side of most any situation — a great quality to have.

I also love all of our great staff and making friends with so many customers. It is very fulfilling to see all the friendships that have formed among our customers just because they meet at a class or crop.  The friendships that have formed among our staff will last long after Memory Bound….until we get to the nursing home….then we will be “new” friends!

My philosophy on memory keeping is this: Think of yourself as the family historian. I want my children to know how loved they are, where they came from, all the wonderful happy memories we made while they were growing up.

My motto:  A day without laughter is a day wasted.  Lucky for me, I work at Memory Bound so there is never a shortage of someone to laugh with.
